Shanghai Airlines: Pet Policy

As Shanghai Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, they follow all of the same procedures.

What methods of transport does Shanghai Airlines provide for my pet?

With the exclusion of service dogs, live animals of any description are not permitted in the passenger cabin, and must be checked as baggage.

Does my pet qualify for travel as checked baggage?

Please ensure you obtain all necessary permits to enable the animal to enter the country/territory of destination (including transit). Shanghai Airlines will not be responsible in the event of the animal being refused entry into, or passage through, any country/territory. You as the owner assume all risks of injury to (or sickness or death of) the animal.

For aircraft safety, Shanghai Airlines will not accept fighting dogs for carriage on any of their flights.

What are the fees associated with pet transport?

In all cases (except services dogs, which are permitted to travel free of charge), the animal will be treated as excess baggage for which you will be obliged to pay the applicable rate. Excess baggage charges will be assessed on the basis of the total weight of the animal and its container.

Please contact the airline directly for information about traveling with a service animal.
