Carry-On Allowance:
All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:
Economy and Premium Economy passengers are allowed 1 carry-on bag that adheres to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 22in x 14in x 9in/56cm x 36cm x 23cm (length x width x height)
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 22 lbs (10 kg)
Uppper Class passengers are allowed 2 carry-on bags that adhere to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 22in x 14in x 9in/56cm x 36cm x 23cm (length x width x height)
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage (each bag): 26 lbs (12 kg) for an individual item, 36 lbs (16 kg) combined maximum
REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.

Checked Baggage Allowance
Passengers traveling in Economy on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes
are allowed 1 bag as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 90 cm x 75 cm x 43 cm / 35.5 in x 29.5 in x 16 in
- Maximum Weight: 51 lbs (23 kg)
Passengers traveling in Premium Economy on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes are allowed 2 bags as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 50 lbs (23 kg)
Passengers traveling in Upper Class on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes are allowed 3 bags as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg
Passengers traveling on South African, Australian, Asian and Dubai routes must adhere to the following weigth requirements by class of service:
- Maximum Weight for Economy and Premium Economy passengers: 44 lbs (20 kg)
- Maximum Weight for Upper Class passengers: 66 lbs (30 kg)
Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees
If you have more bags than the permitted allowance or your bags exceed the weight or linear restrictions, you will be charged additional fees. Contact Virgin Atlantic directly, or visit their Excess Baggage Information Page for information.
Sports Equipment
Some checked items, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee because of size, fragility, or other handling requirements. Contact Virgin Atlantic for more information.
CPAP Devices:
The following guidelines apply to any respiratory assistive devices you wish to bring on board: (1) It must be labelled by the manufacturer, confirming it has been tested to meet the requirements for medical portable devices set by the UK Government or US Federal Aviation Authority. (2) The device must not be too big or too heavy to be used in the cabin. (3) Any extra batteries must be packaged in accordance with UK safety regulations. (4) You must carry sufficient fully-charged batteries to power the device for 150% of the expected maximum flight duration, to take any delays into account. (5) You may also need to carry a medical certificate for the condition that requires you to use the device.
